Project Overview

What the product does, who it serves, and the parts I owned end to end.

Sawdah Express is a full-featured cross-border e-commerce platform that bridges the gap between Chinese wholesale suppliers and Bangladeshi buyers. The platform enables retailers and consumers to discover, compare, and purchase products directly from Alibaba/1688 — offering competitive bulk pricing, localized payment methods, and a streamlined order management experience.

One of the most impactful features I built was the Bulk Pricing Intelligence System — a dynamic pricing engine that calculates minimum order quantities (MOQ) based on product price tiers and validates bulk pricing configurations in real time. This replaced a manual pricing workflow and eliminated incorrect tier displays, improving conversion rates.

I also implemented a Reverse Image Search feature, allowing users to upload product images and instantly find matching items from the Alibaba catalog. This feature uses server-side session management with automatic 24-hour cleanup and shareable search result URLs.

On the payment side, I integrated Bangladesh-specific mobile payment gateways (bKash, Nagad, Rocket) alongside traditional card payments and cash-on-delivery — all managed through a dynamic configuration system fetched from the backend API at runtime.

The entire UI was built mobile-first using Tailwind CSS and Radix UI primitives for accessibility, with dedicated mobile components for navigation, product browsing, and the purchase flow. State management is handled via Zustand stores with persistence middleware, ensuring cart data and authentication survive page refreshes.

Architecture

How the system is layered and why those boundaries were drawn.

Uses nWidart Laravel Modules for module isolation. Each module has its own service provider, routes, migrations, and views. A global hook system allows modules to extend each other's functionality.

Challenges & Outcomes

The hard parts, and what shipping them produced.

Challenges

  • 01

The core challenge was integrating with external supplier APIs (Alibaba/1688 via Dajisaas and RapidAPI) while maintaining a fast, intuitive shopping experience. I architected the frontend as a Next.js 15 application with server-side rendering for SEO and performance, powered by a Laravel backend API for business logic, authentication, and order processing.

Outcomes

  • 01

Implemented a module registry with service provider auto-discovery and a hook/event system for cross-module communication.
